History, Milestones in Orwak’s progress

1971  
Orwak is founded and based on a simple yet ingenious idea. The starting point was that waste must be compacted safely and cleanly. The patented solution was - and still is - putting the bag ”outside” a steel drum to protect the bag during the compaction process. Model Orwak 5030 is displayed at major exhibitions in London and Paris.

1973  
The year Orwak went international. Several distributors are established in Europe and the start of Orwak UK is a success from day one.Orwak is committed to giving its customers the possibility of sorting and compacting in one machine.  Models Orwak 5032 and Orwak 5033 are born.

1978  
The first big baler is designed and Orwak is the first to market with a unique concept – the Multi Chamber Baler. This system later became a huge success that contributed to Orwak’s continued growth worldwide.

The early 1980’s  
Orwak conquers the supermarket business in the UK. All major target groups pick our unique multi chamber baler model 8020. Thousands are installed!

1981  
A number of new markets and distributors are developed.

1984  
Orwak USA Inc. is inaugurated. The unique trash compactor Orwak 5030 is readily accepted by major fast food companies, restaurant and hotels.Model Orwak 8010 is born. It’s the fastest down-stroke baler in the world with a cycle time of just 10 seconds.

1988  
A new product joins the family – the smaller multi chamber baler Orwak 5070.

1989  
The French market is first to demand a compactor for plastic bins. Orwak is first again, introducing its simple but effective “in-bin” compactor model Orwak 4000.

1990  
Orwak enters the Japanese market. 

1995  
Orwak continues to expand and we move to our current production facilities.

1996  
Our heavy-duty baler model Orwak 5070-HD is launched, at first targeted at the Japanese market with tough requirements for speed and bale density. 

1997  
The smallest Orwak baler and the biggest baler are born – models Orwak 3100 and 3600 respectively. They very quickly became a huge success and are still today two of our most popular products. Orwak also introduces a compactor for larger plastic bins – model Orwak 4100.

1998  
Orwak starts a sales company in Poland, a promising future market.The sheet metal part of the production is moved into our current facilities, making Orwak a complete manufacturer.

2001-2002 
A brand new line of vertical balers is launched to further boost Orwak’s growth.

2001  
Presona and Morinders are acquired and the Orwak Group is formed.

2003  
At The Cologne Fair, Orwak proudly reveals it’s latest development model Orwak 3300 – a low-built baler that has an attractive and user-friendly design.Another unique product line is introduced to the market. The “Little Elephant” – the world first attractive and quiet baler/compactor for FrontLine decentralized applications in, e.g. offices, shops and pharmacies.

2005  
Tomra acquires Orwak.

2006
Brickman is integrated in the Orwak-assortment.

2007
The three new models Orwak 3210, Orwak 3410 and Orwak 3810 are introduced and replace the classic models Orwak 3200, Orwak 3400 and Orwak 3800.  


2008

Orwak introduces Orwak 3410 Sliding door and Orwak 3610. Both the new models are equipped with autostart as standard. Model 3610 is the largest and most powerful front loaded baler in the assortment and it replaces the predecessor Orwak 3600.


2009
The little twins Orwak 3105 und 3110 were launched! They are the newest members in the silent family and with their compact design and small size they fit where the customer wants them to be. 

2010

Orwak introduced another 50-ton-baler, Orwak 3605 in January 2010. The new baler offers the customers an alternative to 3610, if they require other dimensions of the bales to fit into a different logistics system.
